Introduction to glass forming...
This series of sessions is recommended for people who have little or no previous experience of working with glass. You do not need to consider yourself as being "artistic" but you might when you have finished! Before we begin I will run through basic health and safety requirements and as appropriate I will remind you of these throughout the course so as to ensure that you can work safely and with confidence.
Each session will have a theme and introduce new skills and you will usually produce a piece for firing in the kiln at the end of the session which can be collected once they have been fired.
The course commences with a session making a pair of glass coasters. You then move on to making panels and bowls. Subsequent sessions include kiln carving, bottle decoration and slumping, mould making and open casting, jewellery and Christmas decorations.
This introductory course can be followed by the Intermediate Glass Forming course or bespoke sessions where you can take some of your ideas forward - such as by making a window, or more sophisticated glass object (e.g. a wedding present or retirement gift).
